The two painting subjects Darlene has grown to love most are flowers and children. As she spends hours creating the faces of children on paper, they spring to life for me.
Darlene has also been doing mosaic. It allows her total creativity and freedom. She paints on tiles, fire them and install them on on tables, which her husband fabricates from metal.
Darlene think of herself as a "passionate amateur" in the sense of an enthusiastic connoisseur who adores her subject and wants to draw others in.
