Born and raised in California, Carole attended California State College, Stanislaus, San Francisco State University and finally University of Washington. Her first career began in 1978 with Pan American Airways. Following 9/11, after traveling internationally for 23 years, Carole began taking leaves of absence from the airline industry, which allowed her to explore the world of art.
In 2003, Carole began what would become her second career as an oil painter.Carole had the amazing good fortune to begin painting in a mentorship with renowned landscape artist, Carol Satriani. Studying with Ms. Satriani from 2003 until 2006, she focused on botanicals, still life and landscapes. Subsequently, she has receive art instruction from Camille LaPointe-Lyons, Kathy Lack at the Marin Museum of Contemporary Art, Jamie Brunson at California College of Art, plein-air study with Tim Horn, and Eva Bovenzi at UC Berkeley Extension.
Drawing is an essential ingredient in my art, whether capturing the drama of a human gesture or the bend of an oak tree. Drawing from the figure is pure joy for me. Capturing the movement of a quick pose invites the dance of making art. Working on paper, I first prepare free flowing abstractions using a combination of pigments, pastels, and Russian sauce. The resulting abstraction sets the stage for placing the figures into the drawing. Using pastels or charcoal I can then add or subtract from the background in a way that enhances the gesture.
Painting landscapes in oil I look for color to create the right sensory response to what I see. Living in Knights Valley, just north of Calistoga, my favorite subject is old, weathered barns. Capturing reflected light on the weathered surfaces or rooftops, with either brilliant colors of a setting sun or the softer hues of a morning mist, is my challenge. Many old barns are disappearing so it is my way of preserving the history here playing with the visual effects of sunlight on these old structures. Lush forests are also disappearing and are also a subject I like paint to remind the viewer of the thinning forests.

Don Palmer
My first photography was shooting my Dad's 16mm Kodak Cine Special in 1946 at 14. Got my own Argus C3 and then a Kodak 35 Rangefinder. In 1950 I bought a Speed Graphic to shoot Sports Car races, Motorcycle Racing and general photography. In 1965 I moved to a Nikkormat FT to take family photos. Later I gave the Nikkormat to my son and I stopped shooting photos. No photography from 1980 to 2000.
Around 2000 I got interested in photography again and i started shooting digital. I did casual shooting during this period with a series of digital point and shoot cameras, but in 2009 I wanted better image quality and I decided to step up to a DSLR, I chose a Nikon D700 which suits my shooting needs and style. Great camera but recently I felt a yearning to try film again. Bought a Mamiya 7II 6x7cm. film camera and I am enjoying the experience. My two submissions are from the Mamiya 7II Full Circle!!

Wes Thollander
I grew up in a family that was heavily influenced by art. In 1969, I acquired my first single lens reflex camera, and started shooting in earnest, maintaining a wet darkroom from that point until 2003, when digital imaging finally provided the quality I needed to produce technically competent photos.
I now live northwest of Calistoga, California, with my wife amidst 15 wooded acres of solitude. I have three passions that tend to mesh well; travel, photography and motorcycling. As a result, you may find my subject matter wanders around a bit, but I love the beauty of the natural world and it's multitude of subjects.

Linda Williamson My dream was to photograph a slot canyon at Lower Antelope Valley, Arizona. When I arrived in June, all I saw were sand-colored walls in very narrow slits through the rock. Sunlight bounced from one wall to the other. There was no time or space for a tripod. I held my breath, tucked in my elbows, and took a few shots. When I looked at the images, I was amazed at the color which had changed
